Regularly featured at Hugs Bar in Brooklyn, NY, Publk is a local social network designed for bar patrons. Users can either SMS or Tweet from their mobile phones, the messages of which are displayed on the bar's projection screen and television. Users can opt to receive these messages on their mobiles if they wish. Designed to facilitate interaction amongst strangers in a bar, and for patrons to easily communicate with their bartenders.
Collaboration with Josh Berry.
*Update: big plans are underway for Publk. While it has been a success in its current context, we're hoping to expand Publk's reach and focus its purpose. We'd like to see Publk become a tool for hyperlocal journalism, and we've got a number of ideas to make Publk rise above the crowd. Stay tuned.
