Picture Me Rollin' is a manufactured surface designed to produce beats as roller luggage is pulled across. Tones are generated as the wheels of the roller luggage encounter the bumps, and these tones are modulated and amplified using contact microphones and Max/MSP. Picture Me Rollin' is imagined for use in corridors in airports, and bus and train stations, and designed to facilitate light-hearted interaction amongst hurrying commuters. Multiple surfaces are planned, arranged in parallel, so many users can create music together as they rush with their luggage. It's GarageBand for airport travelers, in a way.
Collaboration with José Olivares.
